Pretty good read I thought. I agree with a lot that was said here in the article. However, and this isn’t to defend men or that specific sound guy. Some, but not all, of these grips/audio engineers, male artists. They kind of act like computer programmers from my experience.
Very isolated lives. They don’t play well with others, and are only nice to the men to get them out of their hair faster or are just straight up intimidated. With a woman, it is a little different. Not because they hate women, I am sure some of them do, but rather they just don’t know how to deal with women in general. Said guys see a pretty girl and are overwhelmed.
The anxiety is too much. I don’t really respect many men that have anxiety issues. I am like, dude, man the FK-Up-Buttercup. If I can do something with all my limitations in life, do it without fear of failure, and make it look easy, you can at least meet me halfway, kind of thing.
Just too many men today getting all butt-hurt because they grew up in a sheltered life with a single mother. I know plenty of guys that grew up that way and you know what? They are just fine on the girl/guy relations. No pussy-footin’… No ANXIETY issues. Hell some of them went to the military and went right to war. Talk about manning up…
These types of guys act like they know everything about their trade and because of their social issues do not know how to respond to an attractive woman that knows some things about said trade. I don’t believe this to be isolated to the music industry, but in any industry where the technical parts are dominated by men. Computer Technology, Gaming, Programming. Music, Film, School (Classroom Environment.)
I have written about this before about men not being men. We are dealing with 2 or 3 generations of men being raised by women and what does one expect when you have this? Where do the men learn to be men? Some overcome this, some do not.
Sadly, we probably won’t have any changes to this kind of thing. With everyone on the Racist hunt lately.
Women have been held down, literally since the beginning when the 1st man knew he could overpower a woman and that dictated policy for thousands of years to come. This has been happening way before Race issues. All races pretty much treat their women like this. It’s up to us real men to treat women, the creators, with love and respect.
I am smart and capable… Physical and Athletic, but I can pull up my Instagram and show you many many women that make me look last place in every category. Am I butt-hurt by this? Do I feel like less of a man or something? NO… Not at all. I feel good about it.

However, the subject is huge… It tackles so many different areas of human behavior. It was supposed to be a short mini-blog. Yeah, not so much… As we hit the 633-word mark…
There is no perfect answer here. A woman toughens up. A man becomes more sensitive. Is it possible to have a happy balance between the 2??? Sure… Have I seen it in reality, no not really. I have dealt with so many damaged women; here we are using that word again, “damaged.” I have dealt with just as many damaged men. It’s an ugly thing. Will have to attack that at a later date.
In this case, based on the article the woman performer just needs to be on top of her game. Know what she needs to know and just understand that men in her surrounding company will deal with can be/will be completely a pain in the ass. Ladies… No joke, we are a pain in the ass…
